My name is Laura Penley-Beaudoin, MHRTC, MSW Intern, and I currently work as a
case manager and outpatient therapy intern with Blue Ridge Counseling Center. I have
been in the social work field since 2005. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University
of Southern Maine in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I am scheduled to graduate from
the University of New England with a Master of Social Work in May 2026, and plan to
have completed my LMSW-cc licensing exam by that time. In 2018, I obtained my 200-
hour Yoga Teaching Certification and an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Certification.
I specialize in a holistic, client-centered and trauma-informed approach integrating all
aspects of the individual. My goal is to work alongside those I serve to identify their
strengths, support their needs, and to help them to reach the goals they identify for
themselves. My role is to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment
so clients feel safe to explore themselves and learn the links between thoughts,
feelings, behavior, and environment. My goal is to meet them where they are and to
empower them so they can accomplish the personal growth they are looking for.
I use Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral, Narrative, and Solution-Focused
modalities in my work to support client autonomy and empowerment. I also engage in
psychoeducation and utilize my YTT background to support client’s understanding of
the link between the body, mind, and emotions.
I have a diverse professional background which includes DSP and Ed Tech II work while
completing my undergraduate degree. I interned as an elementary school guidance
counselor as I completed my bachelor’s degree. I went on to work as a home visitor for
Healthy Families before a 12-year career as a Resident Service Coordinator serving the
elderly, family, new Mainers, and disabled populations. I came to case management in
2021 as I began my master’s program. My background and job history has allowed me
to work with many populations in numerous contexts, and I use this knowledge to inform
my current practice. I plan to continue at Blue Ridge in both the case management and
outpatient therapy departments post-graduation and am looking forward to serving
members of the community.
